Nita Ambani’s Educational Background: From Commerce Graduate to Trained Bharatnatyam Dancer

 

Nita Ambani, the wife of billionaire Mukesh Ambani and founder of the Reliance Foundation, is well-known not only for her role in India’s business and philanthropic circles but also for her impressive educational and cultural background.

Born on November 1, 1964, Nita Ambani grew up in a middle-class family and completed her Bachelor’s degree from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Before rising to prominence, she even worked as a school teacher, earning a modest salary of Rs 800 per month.

Recently, Nita Ambani was invited to speak at the prestigious Harvard India Conference, where she shared her humble beginnings. She fondly recalled how her family couldn’t afford to send her to Harvard, despite her desire to study there. “My mother called my daughters-in-law and said, ‘When Nita was young, we could not afford to send her to Harvard, even though she wanted to go. Now, they have called her to speak at Harvard,’” she said, reflecting on how far she has come.

Apart from her academic qualifications, Nita Ambani is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, showcasing her passion for classical Indian dance during many high-profile family celebrations, including the weddings of her children Isha, Akash, and Anant. From spiritual performances to Bollywood tunes at sangeet ceremonies, her love for dance remains an integral part of her public persona.

Today, Nita Ambani’s net worth is estimated to be around Rs 2,500 crore, and she is also the owner of the Mumbai Indians IPL cricket team, further highlighting her multifaceted role in India’s cultural and business landscape.
