Coimbatore, June 7 — Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) secured a commanding eight-wicket victory against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) at the Sri Ramakrishna College Ground on Friday. The four-time champions chased down a target of 174 with four overs to spare, thanks to explosive batting performances by R.S. Mokit Hariharan and skipper B. Aparajith.
Sent in to bat, Tiruppur Tamizhans posted a competitive total of 173 for six wickets in their 20 overs. The innings was powered by Tushar Raheja, who scored a brilliant 79 runs off 43 balls, hitting seven boundaries and five sixes. Raheja’s aggressive batting kept the Tamizhans in the game, but once he was dismissed, the team struggled to accelerate further.
In response, Chepauk Super Gillies’ opener R.S. Mokit set the tone with a blistering knock of 46 runs from just 22 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. His aggressive start helped CSG reach 68 for one in the Powerplay overs.
Captain B. Aparajith then took control of the innings, remaining unbeaten on 77 runs off 48 balls with five boundaries and five sixes. Alongside Vijay Shankar, who contributed an unbeaten 41, Aparajith forged a decisive 105-run partnership that sealed the win comfortably in 16 overs.
Among the bowlers, Abhishek Tanwar was the pick of the Tamizhans’ attack, claiming two wickets for 23 runs. Vijay Shankar also contributed with the ball, taking two wickets while conceding 39 runs.
