Karauli:Marking the Tribal Pride Year, the
“Dhartiaaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan” and “Bande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan”
were formally launched in Karauli on Saturday. Urban Development and Autonomous
Governance Minister Jhawar Singh Khara inaugurated the campaigns by lighting a
ceremonial lamp in front of a portrait of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda at
the Collectorate’s Information Centre Auditorium.
During the program, students who won competitions related to
water conservation were felicitated. Eligible citizens of the Nagar Parishad
area were handed land ownership titles, and TB patients received "Nikshay
Poshan Kits" from the health department.
Minister Khara also inaugurated a farm pond constructed at a
cost of ₹1.5 lakh in Sikaroda Meena village of Hindaun. The pond is expected to
provide year-round irrigation support to local farmers.
In a review meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium, the
minister emphasized the importance of water conservation. He instructed
officials to plant and maintain at least one tree in the name of their mothers.
Out of 250,000 saplings planted in previous years, 200,000 have survived.
A ceremonial “deep daan” and water worship ritual was also
held at the historic Shahi Kund of Karauli. The minister laid the foundation
stone for the restoration of both the Shahi Kund and the Teen Darwaza Dam,
assuring that there would be no shortage of funds for development work.
The event was attended by Sapotra MLA Hansraj Meena,
District Collector Neelabh Saxena, BJP District President Govardhan Singh, and
Municipal Council Chairperson Dr. Rajrani Sharma, along with other local
leaders. The Janajati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan will continue across the
region till June 30, with active participation from multiple departments.
