Jaisalmer, June 15 — The Border Security Force (BSF)
has unveiled a new, stylish, and functional combat uniform for its
personnel, marking a significant upgrade in both appearance and utility. The
first glimpse of this digital camouflage attire was spotted along the western
border in Jaisalmer.
BSF DIG Yogendra Singh Rathore stated that the special
digital combat uniform has been designed in-house by the BSF and has
now been patented to prevent unauthorized duplication, sale, or misuse.
“Copying this design will be considered a legal offense,” he emphasized.
Designed for Extreme Weather and Operational Efficiency
This new uniform is not just modern in appearance — it is
engineered to offer comfort and functionality even in extreme temperatures
up to 50°C. BSF personnel working in the scorching deserts of Rajasthan
or the humid terrains of Punjab and Bengal will benefit from the
fabric’s breathable and lightweight nature.
The uniform is made from a blend of 80% cotton, 19%
polyester, and 1% spandex, making it lighter and more flexible than the
previous design, which contained only 50% cotton. The fabric ensures ease of
movement, better ventilation, and resistance to wear and tear — ideal for
demanding field conditions.
Unique Digital Camouflage Pattern
This is the first time that digital printing
technology has been used for BSF uniforms. The new design incorporates a camouflage
blend of 50% khaki, 45% green, and 5% brown, helping soldiers blend into
different terrains and avoid detection during operations.
Beyond its tactical advantages, the digital pattern also
enhances the aesthetic appeal and durability of the uniform, extending
its lifespan.
Two Years of Research, Testing, and Feedback
The development of the uniform took two years,
involving detailed research, trials, and feedback from BSF personnel
posted across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Bengal. Several prototypes were tested in
the field, and their input was incorporated to ensure the final product meets
all operational standards.
BSF officials confirmed that the uniform will be rolled
out to all units within a year.
