Ajmer: Two children died due to drowning in a pit near the railway station in Daurai. On Sunday, three children went to bathe in the water filled under the culvert of Daurai railway station. Two children got into the water to bathe but the third child did not get into the water. There is an 11 feet deep pit under the culvert, which the children were unaware of. Actually, this is the route connecting Daurai village and Ajmer city, which is currently closed due to waterlogging. Unaware of the pit, the children drowned in it. Both the children had come to their maternal grandparents' house during summer vacations. Ramganj police station reached on the information and kept the bodies of both in the mortuary of JLN Hospital and started investigating the case. Ramganj police station in-charge Ravish Samaria said that on Sunday morning around 11 o'clock, Prince (13) son of Prakash, resident of Bhagwan Ganj and Rudra (8) son of Hansraj, resident of Ghughra, went to bathe in the pit with another friend. When both of them drowned, the third child informed the villagers. The villagers immediately started the rescue operation and pulled out Prince, but by then he had died. Rudra could not be found even after a lot of searching. His body was found in the bushes after about an hour. Both the children had come to their maternal uncle Sonu Bhadana's house. Hansraj runs a mobile shop and Prakash is an employee in the railways. Sarpanch representative Hansraj Chaudhary said that it is the result of the administration's negligence that the 11 feet deep pit under the railway culvert has not been filled and neither has any information board been installed.
