Navodaya Alumni Hang Water Pots Across Tonk to Quench Thirst of Birds

‘Parinda-Parinda’ campaign launched to support environmental and social causes

Tonk: Former students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Chhan, under the banner of JNV Chhan Alumni Society, Tonk, launched a noble initiative on Sunday aimed at providing relief to birds during the summer heat. As part of their annual social outreach, members of the society installed bird water pots—known locally as parindas—across several key locations in the city, including the Collectorate, Court, Hospitals, and public institutions.

The campaign was led by Society President Dr. Jaswant Chaudhary, with active support from alumni members. The initiative began at the Ambedkar campus, where the first parindas were hung, marking the official start of the ‘Parinda-Parinda’ programme.

According to Secretary Ramprasad Meena, Navodayans have a tradition of regularly engaging in socially relevant activities every year. This year, they focused on providing relief to speechless creatures suffering in the extreme heat.

Participants included Dr. Manish Lodi, Prahlad Chaudhary, Balveer Chaudhary, Karma Chaudhary, Jitendra Kumar, Meenu Prajapat, Kamlesh Yadav, and several other members who helped install the pots at the Azim Premji Foundation, Gandhi Gaushala, Saadat Hospital, and various government premises.

The campaign was widely appreciated for promoting empathy toward animals and setting an example of environmental responsibility.
