Deoli: The reputation of the police department is under scrutiny after a constable from Hanuman Nagar Police Station allegedly gave an irresponsible and insensitive response to local residents’ complaints about illegal sand (bajri) transportation in the area.
Residents of colonies near Kota Road in the Hanuman Nagar police jurisdiction have been raising concerns over the constant movement of tractor-trolleys carrying illegally mined sand. Despite the growing risk of accidents and noise pollution, the police have failed to take action.According to reports, Constable Mukesh Kumar, who is on duty at the Hanuman Nagar Police Station, reportedly told residents that "it is not the police’s job to stop illegal sand transport. If people are troubled, they should park a trailer themselves in the middle of the road to stop the tractors."
Such statements have raised serious questions about the accountability of the police department and the protection of citizens. Residents, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that they have repeatedly approached the police with complaints, but no action has been taken so far. The rapid movement of these heavy vehicles in residential areas poses a constant risk of accidents and disrupts daily life.
While the Transport and Mining departments are primarily responsible for regulating mining activities, the police are expected to act on illegal operations, especially when public safety is involved. However, in this case, residents allege that the Hanuman Nagar police seem to be ignoring the issue altogether.
This inaction is not new — several previous complaints have gone unanswered. The latest incident has only intensified public frustration and raised doubts over whether the police department’s slogans of safety and service have any meaning on the ground.
Constable Mukesh Kumar’s Response (as alleged):
“Who are you, and what are you trying to say? Go park a trailer on the road yourself if you want to stop them. What do we have to do with these tractors? Go find out yourself who is operating them and stop them yourself.”
