Participation of family and community is necessary to keep children away from addiction

Awareness, rally organized in Ajmer on Child De-Addiction Day

Ajmer: On the occasion of Child De-Addiction Day, an awareness program and rally was organized in Ajmer under the joint aegis of Child Welfare Committee, Childline 1098 and non-governmental organization Dayanand Bal Sandan. The program was inaugurated by District Legal Services Authority Secretary K.M. Jindal and Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Anjali Sharma, Arvind Kumar Meena, Vandana Kharol, Vineeta and Prem and Rajendra Kumar Arya. Through the rally, the participants spread the message in the society with slogans like De-Addiction-Towards Prosperity, Children's Life Free from Drugs, This is Our Resolution. After this, a seminar was organized, in which experts discussed in detail the causes, consequences and preventive measures of drug addiction.

Assistant Director of District Child Protection Unit Sanjay Sawlani, present in the program, said that active participation of family and community is necessary to keep children away from addiction. In this direction, representatives of Sam Childline 1098 informed that helpline service is continuously available to help drug-addicted children. Members of Child Welfare Committee threw light on child rights and legal provisions. Efforts of all participating organizations were appreciated for the successful organization of this program and a pledge was taken to run more such campaigns in future. On this occasion, boys and girls of the organization, officers, employees and social workers participated enthusiastically. The objective of the program was to make children and youth aware of the ill effects of drugs and to inspire them to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
