Traffic Management Committee meeting held at Collectorate, focus on congestion, black spots, and road safety enforcement
Jaipur : District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni on Thursday chaired a meeting
of the District Traffic Management Committee at the Collectorate
Auditorium. During the session, he directed officials from all concerned
departments to implement strict and effective measures to curb road
accidents and manage growing traffic congestion in Jaipur.
Dr. Soni emphasized the urgent need to enforce road
safety protocols and ensure compliance with traffic regulations
across both urban and rural areas. He instructed that speed limit signage
be installed as per the Government of India’s latest guidelines and directed
officials to identify and resolve black spots on national and state
highways.
The Collector also stressed the need for strict action
against unauthorized parking, violations related to reflective tapes,
and general negligence in following safety norms. He asked the Jaipur
Development Authority (JDA) and Rajasthan State Road Development
Corporation (RSRDC) to submit compliance reports on decisions taken
in previous meetings.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India
(NHAI) were instructed to close dangerous median cuts and ensure
that ongoing flyover constructions are completed with high-quality
standards and within timelines. He also called for the replacement of
outdated signboards with clearer, updated ones to improve highway safety.
Other key issues discussed in the meeting included the GPS
tracking of vehicles carrying inflammable substances, taking action against
route violations, and catching drivers under the influence of alcohol at
toll plazas. Additional measures such as placing reflective collars
on stray animals were also suggested to prevent nighttime accidents.
The meeting saw participation from Deputy Commissioner of
Traffic Ms. Shaheen C., Additional District Collector Mukesh Kumar Moond,
and senior officials from the Police Department, Traffic Police, Transport
Department, NHAI, JDA, Public Works Department, Health Department, and
other related agencies.
Dr. Soni concluded the meeting by stating that the safety of
citizens on the road is a top priority and directed departments to work in
coordination to implement all recommended actions effectively and without
delay.
