Strict Measures Must Be Taken to Prevent Road Accidents: District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni

Traffic Management Committee meeting held at Collectorate, focus on congestion, black spots, and road safety enforcement

Jaipur : District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Traffic Management Committee at the Collectorate Auditorium. During the session, he directed officials from all concerned departments to implement strict and effective measures to curb road accidents and manage growing traffic congestion in Jaipur.

Dr. Soni emphasized the urgent need to enforce road safety protocols and ensure compliance with traffic regulations across both urban and rural areas. He instructed that speed limit signage be installed as per the Government of India’s latest guidelines and directed officials to identify and resolve black spots on national and state highways.

The Collector also stressed the need for strict action against unauthorized parking, violations related to reflective tapes, and general negligence in following safety norms. He asked the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) to submit compliance reports on decisions taken in previous meetings.

Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were instructed to close dangerous median cuts and ensure that ongoing flyover constructions are completed with high-quality standards and within timelines. He also called for the replacement of outdated signboards with clearer, updated ones to improve highway safety.

Other key issues discussed in the meeting included the GPS tracking of vehicles carrying inflammable substances, taking action against route violations, and catching drivers under the influence of alcohol at toll plazas. Additional measures such as placing reflective collars on stray animals were also suggested to prevent nighttime accidents.

The meeting saw participation from Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Ms. Shaheen C., Additional District Collector Mukesh Kumar Moond, and senior officials from the Police Department, Traffic Police, Transport Department, NHAI, JDA, Public Works Department, Health Department, and other related agencies.

Dr. Soni concluded the meeting by stating that the safety of citizens on the road is a top priority and directed departments to work in coordination to implement all recommended actions effectively and without delay.
